The “Changing of the Guard” is done for the Rotary Club of Farragut and we’ll start with quotes from the two principals in this annual transition – now past president Chris Camp and new president Keith Bryson.
“We’ve had a great year. This presentation (slideshow) is a statement about the commitment and dedication our club and our members have to making a difference, whether it’s about our work for End Polio Now, our contributions to the Rotary International Annual Fund or the work we do around the world and in our community,” Chris said.
Then Keith: “I’m really excited because 52 weeks from now I’ll be your past president. I am honored to be your president.” Keith is chief operating officer at the Knoxville-based headquarters of Sword & Shield Enterprise Security.
The core leadership team will be Keith; president-elect Staci Wilkerson, vice president/commercial relationship manager at FirstBank; and Ed Jones, president and chief operating officer of Jones, Kirkpatrick & Associates Financial Services.
That said, Rotary year 2018-19 is off and running! The Rotary year runs from July 1 to June 30 and every Rotary club around the world changes its leadership team on July 1.
For her final meeting, Chris, the chief financial officer at Denark Construction, put together a slideshow – “2017-18 in Review – Club Annual Report.” Her review of the year was impressive. If you would like to read it, it is now housed on the club’s website under the “Documents” tab at the top of the Home page. The website is http://www.farragutrotary.org
Chris pointed out a few highlights of the year:
- The club donated $19,558 to the Rotary Foundation and we think that may be a record.
- She also mentioned the contributions to Polio Plus – $6,752 – and total giving of the year of $72,125.
- Chris highlighted the work the club members have done at Ridgedale School and what a great job Rotarians Teri Jo Fox and Val Privett have done coordinating it all – coupon books, the Witches of Rotary for Halloween pumpkin decorating, painting classroom locker rooms and our teacher appreciation luncheon. Ridgedale is the club’s Partner in Education school.
Joan McIntee, past assistant governor and past president, installed the 2018-19 officers and members of the Board of Directors and presented Keith with the gavel and the bell.
Keith then played off the 2018-19 Rotary theme – “Be the Inspiration” – and presented Rotary special coins to the past presidents who have inspired him – Tom King, Dale Read, David Smoak and Chris Camp.
Keith added: “People in this club really step up and get things done. I am hoping to be an inspiration for each member to say ‘Yes’ one extra time this year and that means we can get 92 more things done this year.”
