Mary Pom ClaiborneOur Town Readers

The creative talents of Knox County kids and teens are on display at the Farragut Branch Library in its Epic Adventures Lego Competition. Lego competitions these days take more than clicking together a few bricks. I mean there are now dragons and creatures of all shapes and sizes.

The winners were chosen by over 450 voters:

  • Preschool: Dragon Picnic (Runner-up: Dino World)
  • Ages 5-8: Charmander (Runner-up: When Worlds Collide)
  • Ages 9-12: Chaos Tower (Runner-up: The Magical Treehouse)
  • Teen: The Multiverse (Runner-up: Battle of the Sides)

 Quest for Knowledge Art Contest

If you missed your chance to enter the Lego contest, never fear! There’s another chance to show off your creative talents. It’s time for the summer art show. We’re calling all children and teens to celebrate the theme of this year’s reading challenge by submitting “Quest for Knowledge” drawings, paintings, and collages to be displayed at nine participating library locations throughout the county. Art must be submitted on 9 x 12-inch tagboard provided by the library.

Participating artists will earn five missions of credit toward the Quest for Knowledge challenge. Art will be grouped by age levels: preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school. Space is limited; registration is required by calling your participating library. Artists will be limited to ONE entry per person.

Drop off artwork between July 8–10

Artwork will be on display July 13–26
