Remember Laura, one of the five classmates born within six days of each other who grew up together and celebrated milestone birthdays through the decades?
Apparently, unusual dates have followed her throughout life.
Laura and her husband, Walt, were married Aug. 30. That isn’t particularly unusual. What happened during their next five moves certainly was.
While living in Germany, they discovered their next-door neighbors — a German couple — also had an Aug. 30 wedding anniversary. Even more remarkably, the neighbors had married the same year as Laura and Walt.
Their next move took them to Fort Rucker, Alabama. Their duplex neighbors? Married Aug. 30.
Then came a temporary home in Orlando while Laura and Walt looked for new jobs. Once again, the couple next door shared their Aug. 30 anniversary. They were just a couple of years behind Laura and Walt, had children about the same ages and became good friends. Adding one more coincidence, the other wife was named Laura, too.
Next came Matthews, North Carolina, outside Charlotte.
Sure enough, the next-door neighbors shared the Aug. 30 anniversary.
Two years later, Laura and Walt moved to Knoxville. This time, the streak appeared to be over. Their next-door neighbors did not share the date.
But those neighbors eventually moved across town.
A new family moved in next door.
Their anniversary?
Aug. 30.
Five different places, from Germany to Tennessee, and five sets of next-door neighbors sharing the same wedding anniversary.
After growing up as one of five children born within six days of each other, perhaps Laura should have expected it.
Some people remember important dates.
Laura seems to collect them.
