A Bethlehem in our own backyard

Christopher RobinBlount, Our Town Arts

Bethlehem, a place synonymous with the birth of Christ, a tiny baby born to save the world. A quiet, unassuming location that changed everything.

I traveled this fall to another Bethlehem to paint. Creating this painting was fluid, meaning it flew off the brush easily. That happens sometimes – is it the location, frame of mind, surrounding distraction or lack? Yes, all are incorporated, and it shows.

Bethlehem Church Road in Blount County is a quiet road with beautiful views of mountains and farms that evokes a feeling of peacefulness. A church sanctuary is a holy place, but other places can also be a sanctuary – a mountain top, a riverside or a quiet country road.

May you have a blessed Christmas, keeping the spirit of the season throughout the year. Let it shine through you so that all may benefit.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
