A special 250 program hosted by the Farragut Museum Committee will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 6 p.m. at Farragut Memorial Plaza at Town Hall.  Sharing the Spirit of America is a national event happening across the U.S. that features a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Farragut’s program will include:

  • Welcome from Farragut Mayor Ron Williams
  • Pledge of Allegiance, led by the FHS ROTC
  • Invocation from Bill Lyle of Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian
  • The national anthem by members of the FHS chorus
  • Reading of the Declaration of Independence by members of Farragut Museum committee, DAR, U.S. Navy and Knox Co. Veterans Services
  • A short bio of Admiral Farragut by Town Historian Frank Galbraith (in recognition of the Admiral’s birthday on July 5)
  • Special recognition of Linda White Rankin, sculptor of the Town’s Admiral Farragut statue
  • A flag raffle
  • Snacks served by the Andrew Bogle Chapter of the DAR
  • Tours of the Farragut Museum are available
