Zoo Knoxville’s Lincoln, the red panda, is 12 years old and has spent nearly his entire life at Zoo Knoxville.

Red pandas are currently listed as an endangered species by the IUCN, and their numbers are believed to be less than 10,000 individuals in the wild. Habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation are major threats to wild red pandas.

Since the average life expectancy for red pandas is around 10 years, Lincoln’s care provides a great look at geriatric animal care.
