A new faith-based women’s reproductive health clinic is planning to open in downtown Lenoir City this spring, offering free prenatal care, counseling, and abortion pill reversal services.

Alliance Family Services, a national network of women’s clinics, is preparing to renovate a space at 118 North East Street, between Broadway and First Avenue. Construction is underway, with organizers aiming for a May or June opening, subject to permitting and funding.

The Lenoir City location will operate as a free health center funded by private donations. According to Director Breanne Houston, the clinic will initially be open three days a week, with plans to expand hours as demand grows. Staff and volunteers also intend to be on call for abortion pill reversal requests.

Services will include pregnancy testing, ultrasound, prenatal care up to 20 weeks, well-woman visits, and breast exams. The clinic plans to partner with licensed nurse practitioners and registered nurses to provide medical services.

In addition to medical care, the center will offer counseling for women facing unplanned pregnancies. Organizers say the clinic will focus on creating a welcoming and calm environment for clients while presenting information consistent with its faith-based mission.

The clinic also plans to offer abortion pill reversal, a protocol that involves administering progesterone after the first abortion medication (mifepristone) but before the second medication (misoprostol). Supporters of the protocol describe it as an option for women who change their minds after beginning a medication abortion. Major medical associations have questioned the effectiveness of abortion pill reversal and note that research remains limited. Alliance Family Services says it intends to make the option available to women who request it.

The Lenoir City clinic identifies as pro-life and faith-driven. Its leadership describes the organization’s mission as offering compassionate support to women while presenting what it considers truthful medical and spiritual guidance. While strongly opposed to abortion, the clinic says it aims to serve women regardless of background and to connect clients with additional community resources when needed.

Tennessee law currently restricts abortion access in most circumstances following the state’s post-Dobbs legal changes. In response, a variety of organizations, including pregnancy resource centers and women’s health providers, have continued to expand services related to prenatal care, counseling, and family support.

Alliance Family Services reports that it currently operates multiple clinics nationwide and has recently expanded into Tennessee, including a location in Franklin.

Organizers say the Lenoir City clinic will operate with primarily female staff, though male volunteers may assist in counseling expecting fathers and support roles. Prayer and information nights are being held at the future clinic site as renovations move forward.
