Our southern Appalachians have been blessed with an abundance of winter weather in January 2024, and waterfall chasers have been on the prowl.
Being a native southerner, I’ve always been fascinated with icy blasts and snowy scenes. Images in the old super 8 films with dogs (and humans) rolling around in the snow and sledding down the hills of Fountain City still resonate.
Frozen waterfalls are another manifestation of those long-ago memories. Having the desire and opportunity to visit and photograph these seasonal anomalies is still a winter thrill.
Take a look at these 2024 entries. Who says we don’t have it all weather-wise in our neck of the woods?
