  • The Tennessee Theatre, in tandem with the Jan. 2-6 production of the musical phenomenon “Les Miserables,”  presents “Showbiz Saturday: Behind ‘Les Miserables,’” an in-depth look at the Tony Award-winning play based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel, on Jan. 5 at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St. Two free sessions will be offered: one for adults, 10-11 a.m. (first come, first served) and one for students in grades 7-12, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. (limited to 45 participants; must register in advance). Both sessions will be led by Dr. Kristin Stultz Pressley, a teaching artist and musical-theatre historian also known as “Dr. Broadway.”
  • Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs will host his January constituent meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Howard Pinkston Branch Library, 7732 Martin Mill Pike. These meetings are designed to give citizens the opportunity to meet one-on-one and speak individually with Jacobs about issues that are important to them. All are welcome; no appointment is needed.
