Efforts to establish canoe and kayak recreation on Beaver Creek will draw discussion from two experts when Enhance Powell meets 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at LifeHouse Coffee. The meeting is open to all interested persons.
Doug Bataille, senior director of Parks & Recreation for Knox County, and Ed McAllister, owner of River Sports, will speak.
Roy Arthur has taken the lead to remove obstructions on the creek, and Dennis Irwin has photographed and mapped 27 logjams between Central Avenue Pike and Clinton Highway.
Justin Bailey and this writer, co-chairs of Enhance Powell, will meet Bataille and McAllister earlier on Wednesday for a walking and vehicular tour of the creek through Powell.
LifeHouse Coffee is located at the intersection of Brickyard and Emory roads.
