Knoxville area organizations will receive $62,500 from the Foundation which supports First Tennessee Bank. First Horizon Foundation donated $275,000 to 35 organizations to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Local winners are:

$25,000 – Friends of the Smokies of Kodak, TN

$10,000 – InterFaith Health Clinic and Young-Williams Animal Center, both of Knoxville

$5,000 – Appalachian Bear Rescue of Townsend and Remote Area Medical of Rockford

$2,500 – Honorable mention – Asian Culture Center of Knoxville

Dave Miller, president for First Tennessee’s East Tennessee Region, said, “We are humbled to be able to support the fantastic work of our local communities’ nonprofit organizations and this 25th anniversary of our Foundation provided an ideal opportunity to celebrate that work. We are so proud that the greater Knoxville area organizations received so many of the awards, very deservedly. We had planned for 25 awards total, but the stories were so compelling we decided to recognize 10 additional organizations with $2,500 honorable mention awards.”

More than 500 video submissions were received, and public voting selected the finalists. A panel of judges named the winners based on storytelling, creativity, motivation and overall community impact. A full list of winners and their stories can be found here.

Miller said the 2019 grant cycle is underway. Eligible nonprofits can submit funding requests by Dec. 1. Learn more here.
