Sherry Witt will promote a good cause each month with a ceremony to boost sales of a specialty license plate through the Knox County Clerk’s office.

On Sept. 20, she joined leaders from Knox County Schools to highlight the “Helping Schools” tag, one of the state’s original offerings. Proceeds benefit the county’s general school fund for supplies, equipment and training for students and certified employees.

“For our children to thrive and America to stay competitive, we must support their development, their families and the Knox County Schools that work for them,” Witt said. “This is a great opportunity to invest in our most precious assets – tomorrow’s leaders – our children.”

Witt was joined by Superintendent Bob Thomas, school board chair Terry Hill and Teddy Williams, a teacher at Halls Middle School.

Specialty plates cost $61.50 annually with $35 allocated to a designated state-based organization or charity.
