Fun Facts with Solar 101

How much heat do you need for solar production? That’s a trick question. Solar energy is all about light and not heat. But what a powerful source of energy it is! NASA scientists calculate the sun’s energy is equal to that of 44 million power plants!

How can we harness that on a practical basis? The solar industry is constantly evolving as scientific research continues and best practices help businesses save energy as well as money.

In an effort to fill the information gap between what you may or may not have learned in school and how solar provides solutions today, Solar Alliance is now offering a Solar 101 class. Solar 101 is approved by Tennessee leaders for two hours of Residential Continuing Education (CE) credit for building contractors.

Now, approval is requested and pending for CE credit for Tennessee real estate agents, as well. If approved, the class can provide two hours of CE for those in the real estate industry.

Solar 101 is not intended to teach you how to become a solar designer or engineer, but simply to fill the knowledge gap with a basic understanding of how solar works. This covers terminology and aims to dispel some of the myths about solar.

In September, Solar Alliance is offering Solar 101 to members and affiliate members of Lakeway Area Association of Realtors in Morristown. You can register here. It is uncertain if state approval will come in time for the class on the 14th.

If you have a group in the community wanting to offer CE credit or just interested in education, you can contact abrock@solaralliance.com for more information about organizing a class.
