Rural Metro saves house on Whitcomb

A Sunday (5/27) morning fire in Broadacres was quickly squelched with no injuries reported.

Rural Metro Fire responded at 6:50 a.m. to a report of structure fire at 7824 Whitcomb Road. The first fire crews arrived within minutes and found heavy fire coming from the front right side of the house. With a quick interior attack the fire was brought under control, reducing the level of damage, according to public information officer Jeff Bagwell.

The residents were at home and had evacuated prior to fire department arrival. There were no working smoke detectors operating in the structure and there were no injuries reported.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

Several Rural Metro Fire units responded. The fire was under control at 7:05 and cleanup began shortly thereafter, said Bagwell.
