Weekend highlights the Powell Station Celebration

Join the fun on Saturday, August 14 at the Powell Station Celebration from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Powell High School and Powell Station Park. The event is free. Activities include a 5k Run & Fun Walk, Flotilla-Kayak down Beaver Creek, Disc Golf Tournament, and Skate the Park Tournament and Pro Demo, Jud Heald Pro Skater. Friday, August 13

Sunset Canoe Float: 8 p.m. at Panther Creek State Park. On this relaxing evening canoe float, we’ll cover the basics of canoeing. Life jackets provided. Cost is $10. Register online. For more info or to register go here or call 423-587-7046.

Saturday, August 14

Birding Basics Hike: 8 a.m. at Seven Islands State Birding Park. Cost is $5. Hike 3 miles and learn the basics of birding, including tips for identification, bird songs, and the best tools and resources for beginning birders. Open to birders of all ages. Knoxville Tennessee River Cleanup: 9-1 p.m. at Marine Park. Event is free. Join Keep the TN River Beautiful for our cleanup as volunteers ride in the KTNRB boat to clean shorelines on Fort Loudoun Lake of the Tennessee River. Details and registration here.

Family Scavenger Hunt: 7 p.m. at Frozen Head State Park. Event is free. Join Ranger Kayley in a fun scavenger hunt. MUST bring a camera/phone to take photos with. Big Fun Tuesdays: 6-9 p.m. at Meads Quarry. Join us the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays to hit the trails on your mountain bike, rent a paddleboard, canoe, or kayak from River Sports, enjoy some great local music, or just sit and enjoy a bit of nature.
