Week 2 of high school football brought big wins, rivalry matchups and a few lopsided finishes across Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Central delivered one of the night’s most decisive local victories, shutting out Fulton 42-0 in the Battle of Broadway. The win moved the Bobcats to 2-0.

Powell also picked up a convincing win, defeating Farragut 28-3, while Gibbs topped Halls 34-27. Hardin Valley traveled to Morristown and returned home with a 35-14 victory over Morristown East.

Maryville bounced back from its Week 1 loss to Alcoa in a big way, defeating West 48-13. Alcoa kept rolling with a 56-13 win over Bearden.

Week 2 actually got underway Thursday night, when Knoxville Catholic defeated Anderson County 42-21. The Fighting Irish improved to 2-0 and will travel to Lipscomb Academy for Week 3.

Two weeks into the season, the Friday night lights are already producing plenty of storylines — and Week 3 will bring another round of matchups across the area.
