Vittatoe to join leadership of Midland Baptist Association

The Rev. Jerry Vittatoe has accepted the call to serve as director of missions for the Midland-Northern Baptist Association, a group of 52 church in Knox and Union counties.

Vittatoe was the senior pastor of Clear Springs Baptist Church in Gibbs for 30 years before his initial “retirement” in December 2017. Since 2019, he has served as interim pastor and then pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in Claxton.

In a Facebook post, Vittatoe said it was difficult to get the words out as he resigned as pastor there. “Riverview is an exciting, loving, Great Commission Church,” he wrote. “God honored me greatly by allowing me to serve there. His resignation is effective April 10.

Pastor Vittatoe has a degree in business from Knoxville Business College and graduated from Andersonville Baptist Seminary with a bachelor’s degree in ministry and a doctorate of ministry, pastoral leadership.
