UT bookseller has died

Wade D. Meadows served for over 30 years as the director of the University of Tennessee Book and Supply Store (now VolShop). He must have interacted with a hundred thousand students and staff over this career.

Mr. Meadows took his job seriously, serving as a former president, board member and chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Association of College Stores. He also was a board member of the American Booksellers Association, and a founder and board member of the Tennessee Association of College Stores.

He died February 9, 2022, at age 87. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden and loved his Sunday School class and weekly men’s bible study group. He also served as the church’s coordinator of the FISH Pantry ministry. Additional obituary information is here.

The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of Central Baptist Church of Bearden beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 19. A celebration of his life will follow in the sanctuary at noon.
