Musical instrument made of bamboo: Two pieces, two definite octaves. What could its story be?
The instrument is called a bamboo flute, often known by other names in various cultures, such as the bansuri in India or the dizi in China; for English speakers, it is easier to refer to it simply as a bamboo flute.
Bamboo flutes have been used for thousands of years, as suggested by archaeological evidence that dates back to ancient civilizations in Asia.
How is it made? The flute is made primarily from bamboo, and the choice of bamboo affects the flute’s tonal characteristics. A typical bamboo flute has six to eight finger holes, allowing it to produce a range of pitches. The two-octave range is common in many designs, especially in folk traditions.
Today, bamboo flutes are played worldwide, transcending cultural boundaries and being embraced by diverse musical communities, serving as symbols of connection to nature and traditional art forms.
