Turkey Creek property transfer is week’s biggest deal

Our thoughts, prayers and support go out to the people of Loudon County as they deal with the April 23 loss of their historic courthouse and the records housed there. County officials have a big job ahead of them as they attempt to protect and restore records and documents destroyed by the fire and water. Hopefully they will be able to salvage many of them.

Did you know there are companies that specialize in document restoration? It’s a process that begins with freezing the documents and then using a vacuum freeze-drying system. And, of course, time is of the essence – the sooner the better.

In Knox County last week there were 402 Deeds of Trust recorded with a total of $73,486,113. This number is higher than the previous week because of the holiday and because many refinance loans are done in the middle of the month. The largest loan was between Fifth Third Bank and Broadway Development LLC & Brothers Bedding Mattress Factory LLC in the amount of $1,525,900.

As for property transfers, 266 totaling $86,230,048 were recorded. The transfer between TCLP PBX LLC and KB Turkey Creek LLC was the highest-dollar transfer at $18,500,000 for property including Publix, Longhorn Steaks and Zaxby’s in the Turkey Creek development.

Nick McBride is Knox County’s Register of Deeds.
