Every antique store has that one item that makes you stop and look twice.
This week, it was these vintage baby wall plaques. Their rosy cheeks and colorful bonnets caught the eyes of the Secondhand Sisters, but it was the strings hanging from their mouths that really got their attention.
They’re actually vintage nursery wall hangings from the 1940s and ’50s. The strings originally held little pacifiers, making them a charming decoration for a baby’s room. Today? They might make you smile, laugh or wonder what in the world you’re looking at.
That’s one of the reasons we love exploring antique stores. Every shelf holds something that tells a story about another time. What was once perfectly normal can seem wonderfully quirky decades later.
We didn’t take these little faces home, but they reminded us that the best antiques aren’t always the most valuable. Sometimes they’re simply the ones that spark a conversation.
