The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will hold a seven-week Knoxville Citizens Academy at its new East Tennessee Dist. 1 headquarters on Neil’s Commerce in East Knox County.
The dates are Tuesdays: February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 7, 14 and 21. Meetings are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Each session can accommodate 30 people and includes 20 hours of training.
The academy is designed to develop a better understanding and awareness of the THP and its parent agency, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security. You must be 21 to attend, have no criminal history other than minor traffic violations and attend one night per week (2.5 hours).
