Kristan Higgins writes emotional contemporary fiction, and I fell in love with her writing almost twenty years ago. Now, her new books are automatic purchases, and her newest release, The Me I Used to Be, was no exception.
- The Lucky One.
- The Beautiful One.

- The Sporty One
Audrey, Micah, Jasmine and Beck were called the Core Four in high school, and everyone was jealous of their deep friendships. During their final days of high school, they promised to always be best friends and were making plans for the summer. They even had dates on the calendar to visit one another in the fall wherever they were attending college.
Twenty-five years later, the Core Four are estranged and have been since a horrible accident the night after graduation. The Lucky One contacts the other three and asks them to attend their high school reunion and spend the weekend with her on the farm where so many of the Core Four’s best memories were made.
Each woman approaches the weekend with trepidation. Their lives do not look as picture perfect as they imagined, and The Lucky One has a terrible diagnosis to share. Throughout the weekend, they share long held secrets and offer forgiveness with hopes of finding the magic of their friendship again.
The Me I Used to Be is set in Vermont during autumn, and it was the perfect novel to read before my leaf peeping trip to New England.
