South-Doyle HS choir nominated for Marquee Awards

South-Doyle High School choir program continues to excel and be recognized for performances. The cast of Mamma Mia was nominated in six categories for the first annual Marquee Awards coming on May 11, 2024, at the Tennessee Theater, 7 p.m.

The Tennessee Theatre will feature 10 schools across East Tennessee with the event hosted by Broadway star and Central High School alum Bailey McCall.

The Marquee Awards’ best female and best male actors will attend The Jimmy Awards, a national celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theatre located in New York City.

The Marquee Awards are dedicated to supporting the talents, education and opportunities of students to build a strong and inclusive theatre community.

The South-Doyle students will perform one number from the Mamma Mia show.

The cast has been nominated for:

  • Outstanding Ensemble/Chorus
  • Outstanding Choreography Execution
  • Outstanding Student Design
  • Outstanding Overall Musical
  • Outstanding Supporting Female Annika Kallstrom-11th grade
  • Outstanding Lead Female Chloe Wise-12th grade

Teacher/Student Nominated

  • All Star Cast Member Lauren Glenn-12th
  • All Star Crew Member Jayden Drew-12th
