Shoes for School registration ends July 1

Shoes for School is Saturday, August 3, 9 a.m.-noon at Chilhowee Park & Exposition Center’s Jacob Building. This annual Knoxville Area Urban League event provides children with a new pair of shoes and other school supplies.

This year, a new feature will include an employment and vendor fair to serve children’s families and boost small businesses by connecting children’s guardians to potential job prospects and local entrepreneurs to new customers.

Those interested in being an event sponsor or volunteer can visit Shoes for School or call KAUL at 865-524-5511.

To receive the new pair of shoes for children age 12 and younger, parents/guardians must register by July 1 here and click on shoe order.

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee will be at the event, and families can register here for a mix of shelf-stable goods and fresh produce. Once on the link, click on food registration.

During the event, all attendees can pick up school supplies and enjoy free games, inflatables and giveaways from dozens of booth sponsors.

Since 1968, the Knoxville Area Urban League has assisted disadvantaged people attain social and economic stability and self-sufficiency through direct services and advocacy.
