Bruce Cureton, who served as chief of the Knoxville Fire Department for 15 years, has died at age 81. Chief Cureton will be honored by the KFD Honor Guard during services Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. with the funeral service to follow.
Chief Cureton served with KFD for more than 30 years and was chief from 1982-97. He was a lifetime member of the International Fire Chiefs Association, and he served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Cureton, and his older brother, Eddie Cureton, who also served as KFD chief. The full obituary is here.
