Mary Ellen Clift Cox passed away Oct. 29, 2022, at age 98. She was a lifelong resident of East Knox County, having been born in the Carter community and living with husband, Wendell Cox, in the Thorn Grove community.
A personal shopper for many, she worked into her 80s and was active in many community organizations and at her church. She leaves a family of high achievers: Her daughter is Susan Davis, retired principal in Knox County Schools, and her husband, longtime state Rep. Jimmy Kyle Davis; and her grandson, Judge Judd Davis and wife, Nikki, and great-granddaughters Anna Kate and Sheridan Davis.
