Knoxville lost another bit of history this week as Lenore Sparks Andes died April 17, 2021, at age 89.
Born in Cades Cove on July 24, 1931, she was one of 12 children born to Asa and Amy Sparks – one of the last remaining families to reside in the cove before it became a national park.
She graduated from the University of Tennessee and taught home economics before marrying Rex Andes of Sevierville. She joined Rex in the restaurant business where they successfully operated The Steakhouse in Sevierville and then moved to Knoxville and operated the Hollywood Restaurant and Andes Catering for over 30 years. She and Rex had six children, and she was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Additional obituary information is here.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, with the service to follow in the chapel of Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike.
