Anthony Thompson Jr. will be remembered today (4/22) with a public walkthrough from 9-11:30 a.m. at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman Street. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Pastor Daryl W. Arnold and Bishop Kevin A. Perry will speak. Interment is at Mount Olive Cemetery where a white dove release will conclude the service. All expressions of love may be delivered to the church this morning. Atty. Gen. Charme Allen on Wednesday released the videos recorded by KPD officers during their confrontation with Thompson, 17, at Austin-East High School on April 12. Allen said she will not bring charges against any officer in Thompson’s death. Allen held a two-hour press conference and took questions. That followed a four-hour meeting with Thompson’s family.

Knoxville City Council will resume traditional in-person meetings, starting with a workshop on housing and neighborhood development at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the City County Building. The meetings are open to the public but seating is limited (69 on main floor; 41 balcony seats). Facemasks will be required on the main floor. Mayor Indya Kincannon will not hold a public gathering to present her budget, because of Covid concerns.
