Services are scheduled today for Ann Wheeling, who passed away on March 9, 2023 at age 86. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway. A private graveside service will be held at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery-Lyons View Pike at a later date.
Ann was born June 9, 1936, in Clairfield, Tennessee, and graduated from Jacksboro High School. She was a longtime member of South Knoxville Baptist Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club.
She retired with 33 years of service from Hillcrest Nursing Home as an administrator; being the second female administrator in the state of Tennessee at the time of her tenure. Ann dedicated her life to her patients as well as her family.
She is survived by daughter, Anna Susan Dykes, and son, Douglas Wheeling II, a longtime high school band director who now serves as assistant principal at Whittle Springs Middle School. The full obituary is here.
