Betty McMahan Hood, 91, passed away July 19, 2021. Her daughter, Lisa Hood Skinner, called her “the sweetest woman who walked this earth.”
Betty and her husband, Bill Hood, met at Knoxville High School when she was 15. They were married at Broadway Baptist Church in 1950. She graduated from UT in 1951, specializing in early childhood education in the College of Home Economics. Bill passed away in April of this year; the couple had been married for 70 years.
In addition to Lisa and her husband, Dr. Steve Skinner, Bill and Betty Hood had two sons, Mark J. Hood of Pompano Beach, Florida, and William “Scott” Hood and wife Karen Fields Hood of Knoxville. Additional obituary information is here.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, July 22, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy. The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed on the Berry Funeral Home Facebook page.
