Charles Edward Gaut Sr., 91, passed away Sept. 29 at University Medical Center. He was married for 64 years to Ella Denney Gaut and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at Union Carbide Y12 for 35 years. He was elected to the city council in 1986, representing Knoxville’s District 3. He most recently lived at Sherrill Hills Retirement Community. Additional obituary information here.
