Joy Grayson West, 84, passed away Dec. 22, 2022, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a beautiful spirit of love and a smile which could light up any room. She served as a school secretary/bookkeeper for almost 36 years at Powell Elementary and Powell Middle schools. Before retirement she was an active member of the Knox County Secretaries Association.
She was lifelong member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was very active in the First Cumberland Presbyterian and the Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian churches. She spent most of her adult life at the Beaver Creek Church and was very active in the kitchen, the Garden Circle, the Women’s Ministries Organization, the Helping Hands Ministry, the Missions & Outreach Committee, the Thanksgiving/Easter Basket Committee, and the church Carnival as well as serving in many other ways.
She was preceded in death by son Mark West and her parents, Oren and Beatrice Grayson.
She is survived by husband of 66 years, Fred E. West Jr.; son Timothy West and wife Patty; and other family members. Full obituary is here.
The family will receive friends 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church with a Memorial Service at 10 with Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. The interment will follow at 11 at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Rose Funeral & Cremations Broadway Chapel.
