Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, for Judge Alfred Benjamin “Ben” Strand Jr. He passed away on Aug. 18, 2021, at age 81. Receiving of friends will be from 3-6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 951 S Highway 92, Dandridge, with the funeral service following.
Judge Strand was a long-time member of the church where he served as a deacon, Sunday-School teacher, trustee and the head of many committees. He served in the Air Force National Guard from 1957-1963 and graduated from Carson-Newman, the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
He practiced law for more than 40 years and served Jefferson County as Circuit Court Judge (1975-76). He was judge of General Sessions, Juvenile and Probate courts from 1998-2014.
Mr. Strand served as a Jefferson County commissioner, a Jefferson County school board member, and as the Chamber of Commerce interim president. Additional obituary info is here.
