Lonnie Eugene Bird, 63, of Dandridge, Tennessee, passed away November 25, 2022, from the long-term effects of cancer radiation.
Mr. Bird was a master furnituremaker with many published books and articles to his credit. He was an excellent teacher, both for students who came to the Lonnie Bird School of Fine Woodworking in Dandridge, and to online students through a program he developed to mentor participants for one year while they learned the craft in their own workshops.
His woodworking career spanned 45 years and he took great joy in designing and crafting beautiful, high-quality furniture.
A celebration of Lonnie’s life will take place at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Tennessee, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 1 p.m. His full obituary is here. And his furniture website is here.
