Service was a calling for Ruth Campbell

Services are Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Second Presbyterian Church for Ruth VerMeulen Campbell, who died on Feb. 4 at age 92. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Knoxville attorney Robert Roe Campbell, and their family. Full obituary is here.

In the early years, Mrs. Campbell taught in the former Knoxville City Schools. Later, she volunteered with many nonprofits. She served on the board as president for both The Helen Ross McNabb Center and Shannondale Health Care Center. She also served on the board of The Knoxville Museum of Art and was vice chair of the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission. She was a leader in the Junior League of Knoxville, and a long-time member of 2nd Presbyterian Church where she served in many roles, including as an elder.

Ruth’s memorial service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 2829 Kingston Pike, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. The family invites everyone to gather in the church fellowship hall for family visitation immediately following the service.
