Saturday service for Jean Cobble

Sandra ClarkFountain City, Obits

Fountain City friends will remember Jean Cobble at services Saturday, May 14, 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in South Knoxville. The Rev. Ronald Mouser will preside.

Mrs. Cobble and her husband, Jim, were longtime members of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. In fact, the two met while students at Central High School. They were married a week after Pearl Harbor. After Jim’s commission into the service, Jean traveled with him to various air bases where he served as a pilot during both World War II and the Korean War.

They returned to settle in Knoxville where they owned and operated a home-building business. After Jim’s death in 1991, just shy of being married for 50 years, Jean stayed in Knoxville until relocating to Gainesville, Florida, to be near family. She passed away on May 7, 2022, at age 97.
