Rural Metro opens new fire station today

Come one, come all to the grand opening of Rural Metro Fire Station 36, 7615 Norman Jack Lane off Emory Road behind O’Reilly Auto Parts. Open house is 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. today (March 14) with the ribbon-cutting at 10:15 a.m. Mayor Glenn Jacobs is expected to attend.

This is a new, additional fire hall to serve North Knox County. The existing Halls and Powell stations will remain open.

A chili cook-off will occur from 11:30 to 1:30. The open house with tours and refreshments will continue until 7 p.m.

Captain Jeff Bagwell said parking will be available off-site at Tennova Health & Fitness Center with a shuttle provided. Everyone is invited.
