The Rotary Club of Bearden is taking the next step in its longstanding partnership with Pond Gap Elementary School by helping launch a new playground project for the school’s prekindergarten students and preparing to install a Rotary Peace Pole on campus.
The projects reflect Rotary’s commitment to investing in children while promoting peace, inclusion and community connections close to home.
The club is helping fund the creation of a new playground that will serve the school’s youngest learners. The timing is especially meaningful as Pond Gap Elementary expands its early childhood program by adding a second preschool classroom this school year, creating opportunities for even more children to learn and grow.
In addition to supporting the playground project, Rotary Club of Bearden members will install a Peace Pole celebrating the diversity of the Pond Gap school community. The pole will feature every language spoken by Pond Gap students, including American Sign Language, reflecting the school’s welcoming spirit and Rotary’s commitment to peace, understanding and inclusion.
These newest projects build on the Rotary Club of Bearden’s strong partnership with Pond Gap Elementary, a relationship that extends well beyond a single initiative. Throughout the school year, Rotary members volunteer through literacy programs that foster a love of reading while providing students with encouragement and positive role models.
Club leaders said they are proud to continue investing in the school through projects that benefit students both inside and outside the classroom. From sharing the joy of reading to helping create spaces where children can play, learn and feel included, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to student success.
The Rotary Club of Bearden also thanked its members and community partners whose generosity and volunteer spirit make projects like these possible.
Guided by Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” the club continues to demonstrate how local partnerships can create lasting opportunities for children. The new playground and upcoming Peace Pole will stand as symbols of a community working together to support learning, celebrate diversity and inspire hope for future generations.
