For the 18th consecutive year, the Rotary Club of Farragut is presenting its annual fundraiser – the Wine Tasting & Hors d’oeuvres. The date is Friday, Nov. 9, and the venue is the SouthEast Bank in The Renaissance Center in Farragut.

Tickets for the event are $65 each and the doors will open at 6 p.m.

This is a major fundraiser for the club and the money is used to support various projects and organizations in our community. Here is a partial list: Honor Air, Remote Area Medical (RAM), Mission of Hope, KARM, Cerebral Palsy Center, Laundry Love, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Change Center, Ridgedale Alternative School, Habitat for Humanity, Smoky Mountain Blues Society, Mobile Meals, Smiles for Hope and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

Our event coordinator is Megan Belcher, and Yvonne Key is pulling together the popular silent auction. For the first time, we also will have a public auction of five “high ticket” items and packages.

A sampling of the auction items includes an original painting by Knoxville artist Mike Berry; a package from the Vol Network; a wine cooler fridge with wine; a pontoon boat dinner cruise; and a gift certificate from Ray Fisher and Fisher Tire Co. There are many other items for your bids.

The very popular Water Into Wine Bistro, owned by Farragut Rotarian Candace Viox, is catering the dinner and here is the menu she has planned: Artichoke stuffed mushrooms; large cheese and charcuterie board; Southern style meatloaf with Boursin whipped potatoes; haricots-vents green bean Beurre Blanc; chicken coq qu vin with a burgundy demi glaze; roasted Brussel sprouts; spinach and squash lasagna with fresh mozzarella and a Bechamel sauce.

A variety of wines – reds and whites – are being donated by the Taylor Family – Sam Taylor and his “kids” Sam Jr., Ellen Taylor Jones and Andy from Dixie Lee Wine & Liquors in Farragut. Sam Taylor Sr. is long-standing member of the club. The Taylors also will at the bar pouring the wines throughout the evening.

Rotarian Sam Mishu covers the cost of our food for this event so all of the money raised goes to help fund the organizations and projects we support.

If you would like to attend, please email Megan Belcher for your tickets.

It’s a great evening for fellowship, meeting and making new friends, great wines and great food!
