George Turley “G.T.” Ballenger Jr., passed away February 3, 2023. He loved Fountain City, where he was born and spent his early years, and South Knoxville, where he lived most of his adult life.
He was the consummate real estate professional: a licensed general contractor, certified general real estate appraiser, licensed real estate broker and licensed insurance agent at G.T. Ballenger Realtors in Fountain City.
He served as president of the Knoxville Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, president of Knoxville Area Association of Realtors and vice-president of the Tennessee Association of Realtors. He taught real estate courses at the University of Tennessee for 50 years.
Funeral services were Sunday, February 5, at Meridian Baptist Church where G.T. and wife Anne were longtime members. Family and friends will meet today (2/6/23) at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, for an 11 a.m. interment service. His full obituary is here.
