RCF’s holidays: Bells, toys and GivingTuesday

The 2021 holidays are here … and the Rotary Club of Farragut wishes one and all and your families a safe and blessed Thanksgiving. As we celebrate the season, the RCF will be busy on a number of projects.

If you’ve not heard of GivingTuesday, you have now. This program began in 2012 and will be celebrated on Nov. 30 this year. Its purpose is simple: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday is an independent nonprofit and a global movement inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. To learn more about this program, go here.

Farragut Rotarians and all Rotarians frequently dedicate their time, talents, and resources to do good locally and around the world. More about that in a moment.

The RCF now has its own Foundation – the Rotary Club of Farragut Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The RCF Foundation is building an endowment so that the income from our investments will be available to be used on future projects, both locally and globally. GivingTuesday on Nov. 30 would be a great time for you to donate by going here.

Also, the club begins its holidays with a Wednesday, Dec. 1, performance at noon by the voices of the Webb School Madrigal Singers at Fox Den Country Club. This is an annual holiday event for the club.

RCF also will be busy with a pair of community holiday projects.

On two Saturdays – Dec. 4 and Dec. 18 – we will be greeting one and all at the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle at the main entrance of Kroger in Farragut (entrance closest to Kingston Pike). Our members will be ringing the bells from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Stop by and see us!

We’re also busy working on a pair of Christmas toy drives for the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley and for kids spending their holidays at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Both are being coordinated by Service Projects committee chair Scott Bertini. We’re working to make this year’s toy drives bigger than 2020’s. If you’d like to be part of that please email Bertini at scottbertini@gmail.com

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.
