Quechua Weaver

Christopher RobinArts 865

This Quechua native of the mountains of Peru is using a belt loom to create her wares. She had a beautiful smile and face that told of a hard life in the high Andes Mountains. Choosing to shoot from this viewpoint, without her face, her work and the colors of her clothing become the subject.

She worked so fast you can see a slight blur in her fingers. Truth be told, I might not have used a high enough shutter speed. These are a beautiful people in a fascinating country.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville where you can stop and see their work. Check ahead to see when they will be there, as they may be off looking for more inspiration. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
