Nick Bradshaw, director of fleets for the city of Knoxville, was awarded the Public Works Leader of the Year Award at the 2023 annual conference of the TCAPWA held in November in Nashville.

The award was given as Bradshaw wrapped up a year as president of the organization. A member since 2014, Bradshaw has served on a variety of committees and was Upper East Branch director before joining the queue to become president.

As president, he made attendance at state and national conferences a priority, networking with his counterparts on chapter best practices and promoting public works advocacy by chapter members at the local, state and national levels.

Bradshaw, 39, lives in Lenoir City with his wife and three kids. He started with city of Knoxville in April 2009, holding various jobs in human resources and public service planning. He was named deputy director of fleet services in May 2017 and director in September 2020. College degrees include the MBA from Bryan College and a master’s in public administration from the University of Tennessee.

He is at the forefront of making city vehicles more sustainable after developing the city’s green fleet policy in 2021. In May 2023, the city received a “leading fleet” award from Government Fleet Magazine. In partnership with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, he developed the department’s mechanic apprentice program, where students can earn money while learning their trade.
