Powell’s Schubert to play for Lee

Powell High School senior point guard Haley Schubert has signed to play basketball for Lee University. Former PHS player Tori Lentz also plays for the Flames.

Family and friends gathered in the PHS gym on Friday to celebrate the signing.

Lee University is a Christian college located in Cleveland, Tenn. Its women’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II tournament, losing in overtime to Valdosta State, 61-57, to end the season 24-8. The head coach is Marty Rowe.

Haley’s parents are Heather Horn and Donte Schubert. Horn said her daughter scored 1700 career points at Powell, averaging 20 points, six rebounds and three steals per game. “She had a triple double and a double double.”

Haley will major in business at Lee University.
