Powell Middle gets new principal

Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Howard has been appointed principal of Powell Middle School, replacing Christine Oehler who retired.

Howard joined Knox County Schools in 2008 as assistant principal of Hardin Valley Academy. She previously worked as a math teacher in Florida and Kentucky for more than eight years. She also has served as an assistant principal at West Valley Middle School and currently is an assistant principal at Farragut High School.

Howard holds an associate’s degree in education from Southeast Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Union College, as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership and supervision and a doctorate, both from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
