Some of the best meals are about more than what’s on the plate.
That’s the idea behind Plates for a Purpose, an intimate dinner that brings together outstanding local cuisine, community connections and support for the next generation of East Tennessee culinary and hospitality professionals.
Hosted by Kevin Green Elevates, the event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at The Plaid Apron, 1210 Kenesaw Ave. in Knoxville. Guests will enjoy a specially curated dining experience prepared by Chef Drew McDonald of The Plaid Apron while helping support Pellissippi State Community College’s Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management program.
Every dollar raised from the evening will directly benefit the program, helping students develop the skills and experience they need to pursue careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.
Tickets are $150 per person, and organizers say seating is intentionally limited to create a memorable dining experience. Because of the small number of seats available, the event is expected to sell out.
There are also two sponsorship opportunities still available for businesses or individuals who want to help make an even greater impact. A Course Sponsor and a Napkin Sponsor are each available for $500.
A special thank-you goes to The Wakefield Corporation, the presenting sponsor whose support is helping make the evening possible.

Pellissippi State Community College is a public community college based in Knox and Blount counties in Tennessee and operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The college operates four campuses: Hardin Valley, Blount County, Strawberry Plains, and Magnolia Avenue.
