Food City/UT Pep Rally is set for 3-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Food City’s newest Knox County store – Schaad Road off Oak Ridge Highway. Former Powell manager Tony Higginbotham is the store manager. Members of the UT dance and cheer teams will be present, along with the UT mascot. Inflatables and refreshments will be provided and WIVK will be broadcasting live. UT-themed giveaways will take place every 30 minutes throughout the event, with a grand-prize drawing at 5:50 p.m.

Miss Food City 2022 Pageant: Deadline for entry is Thursday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. This year’s pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 6, at The McGlothlin Center for the Arts at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia. The winner will represent the company during store grand openings and other special events, including the Food City 300 and Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The entry fee is $110. Applications are now available on-line at https://www.foodcity.com/missfoodcity-apply. Entrants will be limited to the first 20 applications received. Miss Food City will receive $3,000 cash, along with additional prizes, including a $1,200 scholarship from sponsor Rave Hairspray.
