Milton Roberts Center offers pickleball

The Knoxville Parks & Rec department has added pickleball to the activities offered at the Milton Roberts Community Center, 5900 Asheville Highway (just east of the Comcast Building).

From the blog: Adult Open Pickleball provides opportunity to enjoy the nation’s fastest growing sport. Pickleball blends tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is played with a paddle, a wiffle ball and a net.

Pickleball will be offered on Mondays from 6-8:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The center has three indoor courts and equipment will be provided. The cost is $2. Info: 865-546-4536. The January calendar is here.

The Chilhowee Park Neighborhood Association will meet today (1/17/23) at 6:30 p.m. at Perk City. All neighbors are welcomed.

The MLK commemorative art show – a collaboration between the Knoxville Arts & Culture Alliance and the MLK Commemorative Commission – will extend until January 28, 2023, at the Emporium Center, 100 Gay Street, Knoxville. This is the eighth annual show and includes approximately 40-50 fine art works of all media. The MLK Memorial Parade will be Monday, June 19, 2023. It will step off at 10 a.m. at Chilhowee Park and conclude at Dr. Walter E. Hardy Park for a special Beck Juneteenth Memorial Tribute service. Knox County Schools will be on summer break on this date.
