Company officials were in Knoxville April 20 to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Food City at 9565 Middlebrook Pike.

Store manager Junior Sneed said he can hardly tell where the addition starts. Food City added 12,000 square feet to the store. The expansion includes a Starbucks and expanded deli/bakery.

“Variety is the difference,” Sneed said. Food City added 2,500 new grocery items. New ready-to-eat items are sushi, pizza and a soup bar.

Hiring Event is Thursday

Food City will host a hiring event Thursday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all stores and the main distribution center. Food City hopes to hire 1,500 full- and part-time associates.

The jobs include both entry-level positions and experienced, skilled positions, such as meat cutter, cake decorator and retail management, as well as various warehousing/distribution positions.

Interested candidates can apply online at FoodCity.com or visit any Food City store to complete an application. Make plans to attend the event at your local Food City to find out how Food City is so much more than a grocery store.
